What is a Bankruptcy Petition?
These records are taken from the Voluntary and Involuntary petitions filed in the Office of the Clerk, United States Bankruptcy records also contain all documents filed in cases and proceedings in Chapter 7 Liquidations, Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 12 reorganizations of family farmers and Chapter 13 petitions for individuals with regular income, providing for voluntary payment of debts from future earnings.
What is a Lien?
A lien is a legal claim by a creditor that secures the creditor's interest in a property. Many times a release is granted before the lien is published. Filing of a lien does not represent in any way a decision from the court or win by the creditor. Click here to view the types of liens and attachments.
    Federal Tax Liens
The federal government may place a lien on the property, real or personal, of any taxpaying entity deemed to be in default on taxes. Click here to view the types of federal tax liens.

    State Tax Liens
When a person, corporation, or other taxpaying entity defaults on the payment of taxes, the state may place a lien on the property of the taxpayer in order to secure it's interests. The taxes may be paid after the forced sale of the property, or by any other means; thus, a state tax lien does not necessarily mean that the property will be sold at auction.
