RERS

Downloading RERS files
1. Open MS Excel.
2. In Excel, click the File menu, and from its dropdown box select Open.
3. Browse your local drive and open your downloaded RERS file. A pop-up box titled "Text Import Wizard, Step 1 of 3"

will appear.
4. Follow the instructions. If in doubt, simply click Next on Step 1.
5. At Step 2, in the Delimiters section, be sure to put a check beside Semicolon, and then press Next.
6. On Step 3, to insure correct importing, be sure to change the field format to Text for ZIPCODE and PLUS4 and

OWNERZIP and MAPREF fields.*
7. Press Finish.
8. Choose "Save As", and rename and save spreadsheet to your computer.

You now have an Excel spreadsheet of all of your data with the appropriate column headers.

*If you do not change these fields' format to Text then zipcodes will not display their leading zero and map identification numbers will look like a formula if Mapref is not a Text format.

Use the Database File Record Layout below to review other fields whose format you may want to change to "Number", "Date", or "Text".
